A seven-year-old girl is lucky to be alive after a car reversed over her leg in Leanyer on Tuesday afternoon.
St John Ambulance NT duty manager Craig Garraway said the girl was taken to hospital.
“About 3.45 in Leanyer, a young girl around seven years of age was backed over by a car while it was reversing,” he said.
“Paramedics attended with police and the young girl received a leg injury, it may have been broken, she was transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital for X-rays and assessment.”
Mr Garraway said it was important for drivers to remain alert when driving around homes and to be aware of their surroundings, with many children’s behaviour unpredictable.
“(It’s) one is everyone’s worst nightmare, kids can come out of nowhere, particularly that sort of age,” he said.
