A female police officer has been punched in the face and another has his face spat in, in two separate incidents over the weekend, police have alleged.
NT Police Assistant Commissioner Narelle Beer said that at 6.30pm on Sunday in Wurrumiyanga on Bathurst Island the officer was punched in the face multiple times while arresting a 19-year-old man over a domestic fight.
She said that as the man was being arrested he punched the officer and ran away.

Assist Comm Beer said he was handed to police by a community member two hours later.
The man has been charged with aggravated assault, resisting police in the execution of duty, assaulting a member of the police force and disorderly behaviour in a public place.
She said he was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court on Tuesday.
Assist Comm Beer said that a woman was reportedly walking through traffic on the Stuart Hwy in Parap at 7pm on Friday.
She said the woman was taken into protective custody because she looked drunk but in the process she spat in the officer’s face.
Assist Comm Beer said she was charged with assaulting a police officer and will front court today.
She said it was shocking and inexcusable behaviour.
“Our members go to work every day to keep the community safe and it is unacceptable that they are assaulted, spat on or abused when doing their job,” Assist Comm Beer said.
“Assaulting police is deplorable and those who do will be held to account and presented before court”.
