Convicted paedophile to spend 17 years behind bars after assault on his own step daughters
A convicted paedophile has been sentenced to jail for continued sexual offences against his two step daughter who were both under ten years of age.
A convicted paedophile has been sentenced to 17 years and one month behind bars after the continued sexual assault of two underage girls in his care.
The court heard the man, aged 27-29 during the time of offending, was found guilty on nine separate charges on two girls under the age of 10, while their mother who he had a domestic relationship with, was out of the house.

Justice Judith Kelly said despite verbal and physical resistance the man orally, vaginally and anally raped his step daughter aged under ten years old on multiple occasions while her mother had left her children in his care.
“These are extremely serious offences. Using that little girl for your own sexual gratification without any thought to her wellbeing … was a gross breach of trust,” she said.
“A child should feel safe in her own home and this child had no place to go where she would feel safe.”
The man also indecently assaulted her older sister, also his step daughter, touching her over her clothes before presenting his erect penis to the girl, then under 10 years old – an act which had occurred multiple times.
The court heard the two girls had been traumatised from the incidents, which took place between February 3, 2016 and July 1, 2018, and were undergoing counselling.
“(One of the girls) struggles to endure physical contact with others,” Justice Kelly said.
“When someone touches she wants to have a shower … she showers compulsively, up to five times a day.
“She sometimes becomes anxious when men talk to her or when people talk to her, particularly men … her stomach aches and she feels sick.”
The mother had also suffered emotionally, physically and financially.

“She blames herself for letting you into their household, she’s afraid her child … may grow up to hate her,” Justice Kelly said.
“She has nightmares where her daughters are sexually assaulted.”
The man faces 17 years and one month imprisonment with a non-parole period of 12 years, backdated to July 6, 2018.
