TWO alleged members of the notorious Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang and three others have appeared in court facing assault charges following an incident in Driver last month.

Laythan Zak Wilson, 24, Damian Terrence Campbell, 46, Joshua Keith Bishop, 29, Christopher Douglas Nicholson, 28 and Kate Statham, 21, were each charged with one count of engaging in violent conduct and one count of aggravated assault.

Police will allege Wilson and Campbell are connected to the Bandidos while they say Bishop, Nicholson and Statham, who smirked as they left court on Tuesday, were also involved in the alleged assault of a 24-year-old man on September 26.

All five were granted police bail earlier this month and bail was extended in the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday.

Police say the victim was walking home from a Palmerston venue when he was allegedly set upon by the group.

The man subsequently required treatment for his injuries in the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Drug and Organised Crime Squad officers charged Wilson and Campbell on October 3, while Bishop, Nicholson and Statham were charged on October 11.

All five will return to court on November 9.
