‘Confronting’ injuries to man allegedly stabbed, slashed with broken bottle in Smith St attack

A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital after suffering serious stab wounds from an alleged attack with a broken bottle.
Police were called to a disturbance near Woolworths on Smith St, Darwin, around 10.30pm Thursday.
Upon arrival, they discovered the man with a deep 15cm laceration to his upper left arm. The injury was so severe police believe the wound cut down to the bone.
Paramedics were called and the man was transported to RDH, where it was discovered that he had suffered a second stab wound to his hip.
Watch Commander Len Turner said the extent of his injuries was confronting.
Police are yet to identify the other person involved in the altercation, but have reason to believe that person is known to the victim.

Police are calling for anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the attack to contact them on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
