THE CLP’s incoming leader Lia Finocchiaro is already beginning to shake things up ahead of the election, pledging to freeze power prices and not cut public service jobs.
The Member for Spillet will become the party’s new leader when Garry Higgins resigns from the role on February 1 in order to focus on his health.
Ms Finocchiaro said she was ready to step up and lead ahead of the Territory election in August.
“Let me be very clear that a CLP government, if elected in August, will not sell or lease public assets. That means Power and Water Corporation, Jacana Energy and Territory Generation will remain in public hands," she said.

“I also want to announce today that if the CLP is elected we will fix power prices for residential properties for four years to ensure Territorians can have back some of that all important discretionary spending so that it can be spent in our community, in local businesses to help our economy get going again.
