Volunteers praised in national week of recognition

ALICE Springs resident Brett Malouf wanted more adventure in his life, so he decided to become a volunteer with the Northern Territory Emergency Services.

Since then, Brett has been equipped with the various skills that now see him called upon to take part in search and rescues, aerial searches and helping out the community following a major storm and/or flooding event.
Mr Malouf said he had found himself “in some amazing situations and working with some amazing people”.
“I enjoy giving back to my community through volunteering,” he said
Today is Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day), an annual day of thanks for the State Emergency Service.
Fire and Emergency Services chief executive Jamie Chalker said there were about 300 NT Emergency Service volunteers.
