A GROUP of Tennant Creek volunteers united over the weekend to support the police and the town’s night patrol to prevent overnight crime.

“Once again, a number of volunteers have gathered at the BP Complex and the Tennant Creek IGA to support our hardworking night-shift staff,” Barkly MLA Steve Edgington wrote in a Facebook post.
Mr Edgington explained that he and the volunteers worked into the early hours of Sunday morning to support police and the night patrol organised by the Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation.

Mr Edgington said the volunteers were all there to “encourage responsible behaviour in Tennant Creek”.
“Thanks to everyone for volunteering your time … and thanks to the night patrol and Northern Territory Police for the fantastic work you all do in the Barkly region,” he said.
