VIRGIN Australia opened up more Alice Springs flights on Thursday in conjunction with a snap 12-hour Happy Hour sale offering 125,000 discounted fares across its national network.

The sale — which was set to end at 11pm — was for selected travel dates between July 13 and August 31, with Virgin economy flights from Adelaide to Alice Springs on offer for $169 (one way) and Darwin to Perth economy flights on sale for $199.

The same day return service flights from Adelaide to Alice Springs and Darwin to Perth were on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Virgin is also offering same day return services between Brisbane and Darwin on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Passengers can change their travel date or destination with no change fee, for domestic bookings made up to 30 September 2020.

The Territory services are part of Virgin’s resumption of flights to Newcastle, Hobart, Launceston, Hamilton Island, Maroochydore, Ballina, Coffs Harbour, Proserpine, and Mount Isa.

Virgin Australia Group Chief Commercial Officer, John MacLeod, said with travel back on the agenda for many Australians the airline was happy to be able to resume flights to a number of holiday destinations in the Northern Territory.

“As borders begin to reopen, we also want to ensure we have great value flights available for guests to book their next trip,” he said.

“We’re pleased to have continued our collaborative effort with the Federal Government to reintroduce some services as we start to see confidence return, and as each State and Territory comes closer to finalising their plans for the easing of restrictions and the reopening of borders.”

“Many of our aircraft have been parked and our teams are preparing them to return to the skies, and with the increase in flights we’ve announced, we’re looking forward to serving our guests as they travel to visit family and friends, or take a well-deserved break.”

Virgin Australia has also introduced additional safety and wellbeing measures to minimise risks associated with COVID-19.

The new measures include pre-departure health screening, contactless check-in, sequenced boarding and disembarkation, and more frequent cleaning and hygiene procedures.
