THE Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park has reopened now that the tourists who arrived from Brisbane on Monday have flown home.
A spokesman from Voyages, which operates the Yulara resort and airport, said traditional owners and Parks Australia came to an agreement on Wednesday to reopen the park at 12pm on Thursday, August 6.
The agreement was based on the condition that a Jetstar flight that arrived at Yulara airport on Thursday would return up to 39 tourists who arrived from Brisbane on Monday.
It also required Jetstar to cancel all upcoming Brisbane to Yulara services in August.
All Sydney flights to Yulara are on hold until August 28 and flights from Melbourne are cancelled indefinitely.
This decision to reopen comes after a female tourist with two children were allegedly caught sneaking into the Uluru when it was closed to the public on Wednesday morning.
A spokeswoman from NT Police said the woman had travelled from Brisbane, but was identified as not having travelled from a hotspot.

“No charges will be laid by police, however the matter is being investigated by Parks Australia,” she said.
A Parks Australia spokeswoman said rangers found the woman with an injured ankle.
“The woman was questioned by rangers and, as the Yulara Health Centre was not open, was escorted to Yulara Police Station,” she said.
