Three dead in horror overnight Lasseter Highway crash

A woman has been taken to hospital after she was located at the scene of a horrific triple fatality in Central Australia.

UPDATE 10am: A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after she was located at the scene of a triple fatality in Central Australia overnight.

Northern Territory Police are still at the scene of a fatal crash on the Lasseter Hwy this morning.

“Police received reports of a single vehicle rollover 80km west of the Stuart Highway shortly before 11:30pm,” a spokesman said.

“On arrival at the scene, police located two males and one female deceased.

“A fourth person was located at the scene. The woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Major Crash Investigation Unit detectives are currently on scene and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.”

EARLIER: THREE people have died in a single vehicle crash in Central Australia overnight.

Acting Senior Sergeant Danny Bell said police were called to the triple fatality near Mt Ebenzer about 1.10am on the Lasseter Hwy, around 200km south of Alice Springs.

“Overnight on Lasseter Hwy near Mt Ebenzer what looked like a single vehicle rollover with all three occupants of the vehicle had died – two males and one female,” Sen Sgt Bell said.

“We’re not sure whether they were locals or tourists yet.

“Police are responding to it, and the major crash unit are heading out this morning.”

He said drivers in the area should proceed with caution as there were some road hazards to be aware of.
