TERRITORY Alliance deputy leader Robyn Lambley has slammed the CLP over revelations it is considering preferencing her party below Labor at the August election.

“This is why Territorians cannot vote for the CLP,” she said.

“They have learnt nothing over the past four years. Nothing at all.”

CLP president Ron Kelly had said Territory Alliance’s decision to ban fracking meant his party would need to reconsider its position on preferences.

He said the CLP would have difficulty preferencing a party that was “anti-development”.

When contacted about Mr Kelly’s comments earlier this week, a Territory Alliance spokeswoman had said the party would not conduct preference negotiations in the media.

But Ms Lambley hit out at the CLP over the issue in a Facebook post on Friday.

“They would sooner preference the Gunner Labor Government that has financially crippled the NT, that has proven to be completely incompetent, than support Territory Alliance in the sensible centre of politics,” she said.

“Over the past four years we have seen the two CLP members of parliament in bed with the Government.

“They have failed as the Opposition and now they are considering preferencing Labor in the election.

“Territory Alliance is the only alternative government, the only party offering a different vision and a different approach.

“The ALP and the CLP are the same.”
