Primary students thank Alice hero cops for extinguishing structure fire at school

STUDENTS from a popular school have thanked the police officers who extinguished a fire that threatened to burn down their school

OUR Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic College (OLSH) students have thanked the police officers who extinguished a fire that threatened to burn down their school.

More than 30 students went to Alice Springs Police Station to sing a Christmas carol for the officers, give them a hamper and a “thank you” book the children made at school.

Just before 6pm on November 26, Police Auxiliary Officer Ajak Akech and Constable Jarrath Haigh responded to a call of a structure fire at OLSH’s Bath Street campus.

“We got there and the side of the building up to the second level was on fire,” said Constable Haigh.

Auxiliary Officer Akech said only one fire extinguisher was readily available and it had to be thrown over a fence to fellow officers.
