AN ALICE Springs police officer has fronted court again after being charged with high-range drink driving.
Off-duty police officer Gregory Oberg, 53, was arrested and subsequently charged with high range drink driving on April 25.
Oberg appeared in court on Friday where a voir dire (a court proceeding to determine whether evidence will be admitted or excluded at trial) was scheduled for November 9.
A voir dire is a “trial within a trial” and is held prior to the jury trial (in a Supreme or District Court matter) or prior to the hearing (in a Magistrates Court matter).

Oberg’s defence barrister Stephen Robson QC said: “The issue is the legality or otherwise of the breath test and breath analysis under the provision of section 29 … the defendant contends that there was no authority under any of those provisions for a breath analysis to be conducted under the circumstances of the matter.”
