POLICE and St John Ambulance workers will lead the fabALICE parade on Friday, which is set to kick off three days of fabulous festivities including cabaret, comedy, drag, film and music to celebrate diversity.
fabALICE will run from March 12-14 and this year’s event features new additions to the program, including an official rainbow flag-raising ceremony at 10am on Friday at the Alice Springs Police Station.
In another first for the festival, Network 10s The Project will cross to one of Australia’s best-known entertainers, Courtney Act, live from Alice Springs.
Courtney is in town to meet Indigenous drag queens and find out more about fabALICE.
The event, which started in 2019, continues to grow in popularity with the 2021 Saturday night Carnivale already sold out.
NT Major Events Company chief executive Tim Watsford said fabALICE was one of the most inclusive events on the Territory events calendar.
“Each year it brings together people from all parts of the community to celebrate diversity and everything that makes Alice Springs so unique,” he said.
“Essential workers are a huge part of any Territory community, and to see them involved in fabALICE is very fitting.”
