THE NT News and centralianadvocate.com.au will launch a new feature series next week highlighting some of the Red Centre’s greatest characters.

To be written by longtime Alice Springs resident Lachlan Wills, Tribes of the Territory looks into the life and times of the wonderful people who live in the community.

The stories will be published first on centralianadvocate.com.au every Wednesday at 5pm NT time.

The first Tribes of the Territory feature will be published on September 16.

“I’m from Melbourne, I live in New York, but Alice Springs is my home,” Wills said.

“It’s where I always come back to, it’s where all my friends live and it’s where, for the first time in my life, I felt like I belonged.

“The people in Alice are the best people in the world. And it’s my honour, and great passion, to tell their stories.

“I’m passionate about celebrating people’s lives. The news is perpetually telling us everything in the world that’s going wrong. How about we stop for a minute and focus on what’s going right.

“Every single person has a beautiful story to tell, and I’m rapt that NT News editor Matt Williams and the NT News want to put Alice Springs and its people front and centre!”

Williams said Tribes of the Territory, which builds on Wills’ previous Outback Characters features, showed the NT News was behind Alice Springs and its people.

“We understand that Alice Springs people sometimes feel removed from the rest of the Territory but it’s a wonderful place with wonderful people and it deserves to be celebrated to the world,” he said.

“Lachlan is very passionate about Alice and telling people’s stories and Tribes of the Territory will be something that celebrates what’s great about Alice Springs every week.”
