ALICE Springs business owner Allison Bitar is standing as a candidate for councillor in the upcoming Alice Springs Town Council Elections on 28 August.

Allison, a parent of three, has called Alice home since 2002. She, along with her husband Nick, own a small business in town.

Allison has a background in anthropology, cultural heritage management and town planning.

“The decision to put my hand up and say I’d like to represent the people of Alice Springs in the Town Council is an unexpected direction for me personally, but as someone who has worked in the heritage management and town planning of the region for nearly 20 years, I bring pragmatic and competent management skills to the local council,” she said.

As a local business owner she said she would “advocate for the centre of town to be a safer

and more vibrant place for all, and advocate for progress that respects and honours the rich and beautiful heritage of the region”.
