AMONG participants in the 2018 Alice Springs Masters Games looking in putting in their best performance include leading local band Wolfpack Amadeus.

They will take to the centre stage at both the Opening Ceremony and Closing Party.

The band, formed by Damon van der Schuit and his sister Amy, has been in its current five piece for six years.

Joining the duo are Gareth Dawkins on bass, Benjamin Sanchez of the drums and Simon Jenkins playing the keyboards.

Guitarist and band manger Damon van der Schuit said they were looking forward to the Games.

“We have played for a thousand or more but the 4-5000 of the Opening Ceremony will be biggest crowd we have played to,” he said.

“While we have played plenty of times for Masters Games, this will be the first time on the big stage.

“We will play our usual covers — all upbeat, lively and positively energetic.

“The ranges is from 50s (Elvis) through the 70s classic rock ‘n’ roll to more modern songs from the likes of Bernard Fanning and Missy Higgins.

“We are looking forward to meeting all the acts coming here to put on a good show for the Games.

“We are an Alice Springs band. This is our pride and joy. We wear this badge proudly and are honoured to be a part of the Alice Springs Masters Games.”

Joining Wolfpack Amadeus for the Opening Ceremony are former INXS guest vocalist and Jesus Christ Superstar star Jon Stevens and the tribute show by the Swell Sisters from the 60s through to the 90s.

The Closing Ceremony will feature Thirsty Mac, Dr Elephant and Melbourne Bee Gees Tribute Show and Wolfpack Amadeus.

The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held at Anzac Oval on the first night of the Games (October 13) and final night (October 20).

Both a free community concerts whether the person participated in the Games or not.
