Alice Springs author and journalist Kieran Finnane will be launching her latest book this morning exploring local dissent against military operations at Pine Gap facilities.
Ms Finnane said her new book Peace Crimes details the guarded and secretive military facility, Pine Gap, and the arrest of six nonviolent activists as well as a subsequent trial under Cold War legislation.
“What they were trying to bring to everyone’s attention was the moral questions around hosting Pine Gap given its militarisation and role in offensive military operations,” Ms Finnane said.
Australia has repeatedly come under scrutiny for its role in hosting Pine Gap which provides data that is used for fatal drone strikes overseas.

A book launch event will be held today starting from around 10.30am at Anzac Hill.
