UPDATE 10.25am: FIRE and emergency crews are extinguishing a house fire in Alice Springs this morning.

Three NT Fire & Rescue trucks are on scene at Undoolya Road, Sadadeen along with police and ambulance services.

It is understood the house and a caravan which also caught fire have been completely destroyed in the blaze.

Fire & Rescue Acting Chief Officer Brendan Magnoli said crews arrived on the scene after recieving a call at 8.30am.

“Upon arrival both the front rooms of the property were on fire as well as the caravan,’ he said.

“Crews attempted to enter the property to see if anyone was inside. They’d been told previously there wasn’t anyone inside.

“There was zero visability, it was fairly well smoke-logged.

“Once outside they hosed down the house to protect the surrounding buildings and vehicles.

“Presently we are led to believe the caravan may have caused the fire but it’s yet to be determined.”

Undoolya Road is closed at the Spearwood Drive turnoff and traffic is being diverted.
