NT CHIEF Minister Michael Gunner and his deputy Nicole Manison popped up on the set of upcoming children’s series MaveriX on Tuesday morning as part of the pair’s “budget-oriented” trip to Alice Springs.
Mr Gunner said labour and skill shortages was “easily the number one issue” raised by businesses he’s visited in Alice Springs.
“There is definitely a shortage of people,” Mr Gunner, who is also Treasurer, said.
“After three low seasons, it’s critical businesses make the most out of the current high season in Alice Springs.”
He said the recently-launched government program Work Stay Play was set up to alleviate the workforce shortage, which has been estimated at 500 people.
