Gap View Hotel, with a whopping works burger, named best place for a burger in Alice Springs

Gap View Hotel has been crowned the best burger joint in Alice Springs in a Centralian Advocate poll

ALICE SPRINGS is spoiled for choice when it comes to the lunchtime staple of a good burger.

This was evident when the Centralian Advocate put a call out to readers to nominate their favourite spot to get a burger in town.

The Gap View Hotel won the poll from an option of 13 businesses.

KFC came in second place, while Hoppy’s Cash Store and Stumps cafe tied in third.

“Yummo!!” was how fans described The Gap Hotel’s burgers, and owners Ray and Diane Loechel said the works burger was one of their hottest menu items.

Also on the menu is a vege burger and steak sandwhiches.

The winning burger with the lot has a patty topped with bacon, cheese, egg, lettuce tomato, beetroot and onion with sauce.

“It’s a large burger and good value for money, and you get chips with it as well,” Mr Loechel said.

The couple purchased The Gap View Hotel 13 years ago.

Mr Loechel said it was “an honour” to be crowned the best joint for a burger in Alice Springs and thanked staff and customers.
