DAMIEN Ryan has been reinstated as Alice Springs mayor after narrowly losing the seat of Araluen in the Territory Election.
Mr Ryan ran for the CLP and received 2161 votes, losing out to Territory Alliance candidate Robyn Lambley who gained 2203 votes in the two party preferred count.
He confirmed on Tuesday morning he would return to the mayoral role.

“I thank Jamie de Brenni who has done the role of mayor for the last month but I’m now back in that role,” Mr Ryan said.
“I just continue to do what I’ve always done and that’s work with others and for the community - nothing has changed.”
Alice Springs Council chief executive Robert Jennings said Mr Ryan, deputy mayor Matt Patterson and councillors Catherine Satour and Marli Banks had requested to be reinstasted following failed bids at the recent Territory election.
Under the Local Government Act, councillors who were not elected to Territory Parliament could be reinstated if they made contact with the chief executive within 14 days of the official results being declared.
