CORONAVIRUS, the economy and plans moving forward were hot conversation topics at Alice Springs two days out from the Territory election, according to Braitling MP Dale Wakefield.

Ms Wakefield said she had a positive experience campaigning at polling booths on Thursday.

“I don’t think people want a change of government,” she said.

“I think people have been happy with the way the Labor government has handled coronavirus.”

Ms Wakefield said she had worked hard for four years and would “always work hard up until the last day”.

“It’s going to be a very tough four years of government,” she said. “I don’t think anyone is under any disillusion of that, and that’s why we need to make sure an experienced pair of hands stays.”

Territory Alliance MP for Araluen Robyn Lambley said she was feeling “optimistic”.

“As the member for 10 years, I know a lot of people, so it’s pleasant,” she said of the atmosphere at the polling booths.

CLP candidate Damien Ryan said it was a “sombre, quiet” morning for him as people cast their votes.

Mr Ryan said he “works each day” and was “not worried about an election party”.

“Anytime I can do something for my community I enjoy it,” he said.

He urged voters to “make sure the next term of government is a good one”.
