A GROUP of 12 youths has been caught on CCTV breaking into a popular Alice Springs cafe.

Southern Watch Commander Steve Pfitzner said police CCTV operators saw the youths near the Wicked Neads cafe in the Todd Mall about 2.30am.

“The operators then saw the youths kicking in a door and entering the premises, stealing some of the drinks from the fridges in the premises,” he said.

“Our members attended and apprehended four of the youths nearby. Three youths aged 13 and one youth aged 12 were apprehended.

“Those four youths have been released for youth diversion consideration and released back to their responsible adults.”

Acting Senior Sergeant Pfitzner said investigations were continuing and was disappointed by the incident.

“Once again, fairly disheartening for the owners of that business to be faced with a large damage bill for the sake of a few a few drinks,” he said.
