A CANNABIS haul, which NT Police say could have yielded up to $800,000, has allegedly been found stashed into a vehicle’s tyres

THREE people, aged between 18 and 31, have been arrested after allegedly being caught with more than eight kilos of cannabis.
Northern Territory Police stopped the vehicle in Connellan on Saturday afternoon after it was seen being driven erratically.
Drug Detector Dog ‘Yakka’ conducted a search of the vehicle and responded to two spare tyres inside the vehicle, where 18 bags of cannabis was allegedly found.
Police will allege it was destined for remote Aboriginal communities where it is expected the illicit drug would yield up to $800,000.
Two men, aged 31 and 27 and an 18-year-old woman were arrested and charged with supplying a commercial quantity of a schedule 2 dangerous drug, and have been remanded in custody to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said, “This seizure displays the value of drug detector dogs in aiding police to locate illicit substances, even when people go to great lengths to hide substances.
“This is a great result in reducing drug related harm to people living in remote communities in the Northern Territory.”
