FEDERAL ASbuild all-rounder Tom Clements will be behind enemy lines this week.

Clements has been asked to be part of the England squad when The Ashes tourists take on the Chairman’s XI at TIO Traeger Park on Friday.

Clements said it was a big thrill to be involved in the first international cricket match in the Red Centre for more than a decade.

‘‘NT Cricket just needed someone reliable and trustworthy to help the Poms,’’ Clements said.

‘‘Someone to bowl at them or give them throw downs.’’

The NT Strike representative has been leading by example, singlehandedly giving the Demons a second consecutive Alice Springs Cricket Association A grade two-day victory with and unbeaten 150 against Gapview Works at Albrecht Oval on Saturday.

The century is Clements’ second in as many matches, after scoring 111 in Federal ASbuild’s success against PROBuild Rovers in the previous round.

‘‘This hundred meant more, not because of the opposition, but purely because a batsmen is only as good as their next innings,’’ he said.

‘‘Batting to the conditions of the wicket was critical as there was more movement with the ball for bowlers than against Rovers a few weeks ago.

‘‘We owed them after last season’s grand final loss.’’
