ALICE Springs has been ranked eighth on TripAdvisor's Top 10 Destinations on the Rise in the South Pacific.
TripAdvisor, one of the world's largest travel websites, announced the winners of its 2013 Traveller's Choice Awards for Destinations on the Rise today.
It highlights 54 places around the world that have seen the greatest increase in positive traveller feedback and traveller interest year after year.
Minister for Tourism Matt Conlan said this is fantastic news as it shows that the Red Centre is a hot spot for travellers.
"We have worked tirelessly all year to put Alice Springs on the world map for all the right reasons and restore the Town's reputation as an iconic global tourism destination," he said
"Our fresh new marketing campaigns coupled with face-to-face meetings with the world's tourism heavyweights has clearly pricked the interest of the international tourism industry.
"This is a great recognition of that effort and clearly shows that we have the right product to sell to the world."
Backpacker Brad Hall said he would recommend Alice Springs to his friends because it ticks all the boxes.
"The relaxed atmosphere, perfect weather and friendly people - come and see the real Australia," he said.
Julia Erger, also a backpacker, said the Western MacDonnell Rangers and Ellery Creek Big Hole are among her favourite places in Central Australia.
Property manager at Quest, which is currently rated number one on TripAdvisor's Alice Springs hotel list, Lenie Smit encourages tourists to vote for their favourite places on the website.
"We're very appreciative of all the guests that chose up to be number one," she said.
"It's a great community and a lot of the time our guests are so surprised at the scenery.
"It's great news that Alice Springs has been chosen because it's a beautiful place to live and a great place to visit."
