Cairns’ biggest preloved fashion market is back with a bang for the third and final iteration of Your Wardrobe Cairns for 2024, on this Saturday.
Hosted at the Cairns Showgrounds, founder Kay Judd said it would be one of the biggest yet, with 120 stalls and at least 1000 people expected at the popular preloved fashion event.
“There’s 120 stalls and hopefully at least 1000 people come and peruse the aisles and traipse through all the beautiful preloved fashion,” Ms Judd said.
Aside from promoting sustainability in fashion, Ms Judd said it was a great opportunity for those wanting a bit of retail therapy, without an expensive price tag.
“Fashion is the second highest contributor to landfill so I think it’s really beautiful when you can extend the life cycle of your clothing, and it makes you feel better, and it makes the person who’s purchasing the garment better,” she said.
“Everyone’s getting so much more savvy about the money that they spend and what they’re spending on and this gives local ladies and gentlemen the opportunity to clean out their closets, but also I think it makes them feel great about contributing to the community.”
The event, which raises money for a different charity each time, will aim to raise $2000 for health organisation COUCH.
“From the door, all our proceeds go to COUCH which is funnily enough where I work,” she said.
“We’re up to almost $40,000 that we give to charity which is incredible.”
Along with fashion stalls, the event will include a coffee truck, live music and is dog-friendly.
Your Wardrobe Cairns will run from 9am to 2pm.
