Chayenne-Elizabeth Marie Doolan pleaded guilty in Queensland Supreme Court to trafficking meth after police uncovered the operation she ran with her “romantic partner” Fabian O’Hara.

Crown Prosecutor Christian Peters told the court Doolan was a repeat offender with a long history of drug offences and was on parole during the trafficking period.

Mr Peters highlighted an incident where Doolan was sentenced on drug offences and dangerous operation of a vehicle after she crashed as she attempted to avoid police interception in a stolen car at a petrol station.

Doolan’s trafficking was uncovered during police operation Victor Secular which targeted the trafficking of meth in Cairns.

A warrant was executed at her address on November 23, 2023, but her trafficking continued past that date.

“The operation uncovered the defendant was trafficking in at least high-level, street-level quantities, wholesale amounts, of methylamphetamine for a six-month period,” Mr Peters said.

Police were able to identify 40 actual supplies and 15 attempted supplies of the dangerous drug.

“The total financial consideration for those supplies lies somewhere between $38,000 to $48,000 but the total figure is likely to be higher,” he said.

Mr Peters said she would also receive jewellery, stolen items and luxury bags as credit.

He also told the court Doolan would enlist the help of family members – using her 72-year-old mother as a lookout and informant on customers.

Mr Peter said Doolan’s co-accused had a “habit of dropping things”.

The court heard O’Hara dropped bags containing on one occasion $19,000 and 153g of meth and on another $18,000 while fleeing police.

Doolan’s defence counsel Aaron Dunkerton told the court it was a “sad story and situation” to see her being sentenced on her 38th birthday but conceded it “was a product of her own decisions”.

He told the court she had an addiction to drugs which she turned to as a result of various tragedies, domestic violence and sexual abuse in her past and was at times smoking more than three points a day.

The prosecutor said the period after her arrest had been her longest period in custody and she recognised her wrongdoing and was working towards becoming accredited as a counsellor.

He said despite her offending and the money involved “she was not driving around in a fancy car with a jet ski”.

Justice James Henry in response highlighted a number of high end luxury bags and jewellery, saying they suggested she was spending freely.

He said her efforts to begin employment in counselling and support work “would be a great way to give back to the community” after pumping dangerous drugs into the same community.

Doolan was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment, with a parole eligibility date in October 2026.
