Traffic resumes after two-car crash on Gillies Range Road

A two-vehicle crash which stopped traffic along a busy Far North highway has been cleared, authorities have confirmed.

A two-vehicle crash which stopped traffic along a busy Far North highway has been cleared, authorities have confirmed.

Emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on the Gillies Range Road, around 9.15am on Wednesday impacting traffic in both directions towards Mareeba.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman confirmed two crews attended and assisted with traffic control.

“It looks like we assisted with traffic controla dn scene safety,” the spokeswoman said.

“The vehicle was cleared from teh roadway and crews left just before 11am.”

Earlier, a FQD spokesman confirmed crews were attending the scene.

“There’s a potential traffic impact. Police are on the way,” the spokesman said.

the Department of Transport and Main Roads confirmed both lanes of traffic had been impacted.

It comes days after police issued a public safety message urging motorists to drive safely throughout the school holidays, following six road incidents on the weekend which left at least four people hospitalised.
