From TV screens to the distillery scene, popular TV presenter Larry Emdur will launch his new whisky line at Salt House in Cairns on May 10.
Emdur, who co-hosts The Morning Show alongside Kylie Gillies, will launch The Ben Buckler range at the bar and restaurant.
“This is our Queensland launch for The Ben Buckler. Whenever I’m in Cairns I’m straight to the Salt House, (it’s) my favourite restaurant here and I am absolutely thrilled to be launching at such an iconic venue,” Emdur said.
“It’s cool, casual and fun, exactly the way we describe The Ben Buckler, so we’re a perfect fit.”
Emdur first floated the idea of a signature whisky range with Corowa Distilling Co five years ago to celebrate his 60th birthday last year.
The launch will include merchandise, cocktails and prizes.
“It’ll be a fun night. I’m a game show host so I can’t resist giving prizes away. We’ve got some very cool merchandise for prizes,” he said.
“The bar team has come up with an extraordinary series of cocktails featuring The Ben Buckler … and I love talking about the whisky so if there’s microphone within 100 metres of the venue I’ll be grabbing that to tell The Ben Buckler story.”
Salt House owner Fintan Rafferty said Emdur was a “longtime friend” of the establishment.
“Larry’s a good friend of Salt House. He came and did The Morning Show with us in maybe 2014, where he broadcast news from (here),” Mr Rafferty said.
He said he looked forward to stocking the bar with Emdur’s new line, alongside a varied range of national and international spirits.
“It’s all really exciting,” he said.
“We have a very large collection of whisky and tequila and premium spirits and it’s lovely to have a national part we can add to our list.”
