‘Tumblin’ Tully Rain’ is the song on everyone’s lips after Queensland’s wettest town celebrated its 100th anniversary on the weekend.

Co-written by Australian country music singer Josh Arnold and Tully State School students, it was unveiled on June 8 at the town’s historic anniversary celebrations.

Mr Arnold said the song was on its way to becoming a viral hit with almost 5000 likes and 2000 shares in one Facebook post alone.

“We’ve had a number videos go big before, but Tully’s on track to take them all out, which is great for the town,” he said.

He said it was a privelege to be part of the centenary celebrations and work with a talented bunch of kids.

“There’s definitely lots of enthusiasm and talent with these guys,” he said.
“The girl at the start of the video absolutely nailed her part and it’s so good to see the kids so proud and passionate about their community.”

Tully State School principal Melissa Wieland said students were still buzzing with excitement as they entered the school gates on Monday.

“It’s all anyone’s been talking about,” Ms Wieland said.

“Everyone loved it and has been sharing it to social media. It’s been the talk of the town.”

Ms Wieland said the two and a half minute song and accompanying music video, took three days to create.

“The whole school was invited to participate in filming and we all sang the chorus at the front of the school building,” she said.

Students filmed parts of the video at the school, and other iconic locations around town, such as the Golden Gumboot and banana and sugarcane farms.

“We wanted to link it to the local community and incorporate some of our local attractions and industries,” she said.

Ms Weiland said it was special to watch the students singing along to the song when it was released to the public at the centenary celebrations.

“Everyone was really invested in it, from the students to their families, everyone was enthralled,” she said.
