Traffic cleared following Northern Beaches car crash

The Captain Cook Highway has reopened to traffic north of Palm Cove following

a single-vehicle crash early this morning.

Emergency services responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on the Captain Cook Highway and Buchan Street around 6.30am.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman confirmed one crew was called to assist after reports of a car in a ditch.

“It looks like an incident with a vehicle is half on the road,” the spokeswoman said.

“The crew on scene said the vehicle’s gone into a ditch.

“One person was inside and crews assisted to get them out, but didn’t need to use extrication gear.”

A QAS spokeswoman confirmed on crew were on scene, assessing an adult female patient.

“The patient is stable with minor injuries,” the spokeswoman said.

The QFD spokeswoman confirmed Queensland Police Service crews were on scene to assist with traffic.

It comes as emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehcile crash in the Cairns CBD, temporarily halting traffic.

Emergency services have responded to reports of a car vs bus crash on the corner of Sheridan Street and Charles Street in Cairns North at 9.04am.

A Queensland Amublance Services spokeswoman confimed one crew was on scene assessing a male patient.

“There looks to be one male patient with some chest pain at this stage,” the spokeswoman said.

“He declined transport to hospital.”
