A 15-year-old remains in a critical condition after a motorbike crash on the Tablelands.

Two teens were riding their trail bikes on Wimble Road at Tolga when they collided about 4.40pm on Thursday.

The 15-year-old rider was initially rushed to Atherton Hospital, before being flown to Cairns Hospital and later onto Townsville.

Townsville Hospital confirmed on Monday morning the 15-year-old was still in a critical condition, but was now stable.

The other young rider suffered minor injuries to his legs and was taken to Atherton Hospital for treatment.

Forensic Crash Unit officers are now investigating the crash and have urged anyone with information or relevant vision to contact police.

The incident comes after a separate crash on Thursday in Cape Tribulation in which a car was reportedly trapped in the water at Imogen Creek, on the Cape Tribulation-Bloomfield Road.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said people had been trapped inside the car which had entered the water, before they managed to free themselves.

“It looks like there was a vehicle trapped in the water with multiple people inside,” she said.

“But they were able to self extricate and have since moved on from that scene.”

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman confirmed locals had provide help to the occupants after the incident.

“Locals have assisted and they’re making their way back to the ferry,” the spokesman said.
