Patient flown to Cairns after near-drowning at Upolu Cay near Green Island on Great Barrier Reef
A woman has been flown to hospital after being retrieved from waters on the Great Barrier Reef.

A 61-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after a near-drowning off the Great Barrier Reef on Wednesday morning.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the incident at Upolu Cay near Green Island about 10.38am.
The spokeswoman said the patient was in a serious condition and will be treated at Cairns Hospital.
A Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman said the 61-year-old woman was in a serious but stable condition on Wednesday afternoon.
This comes just weeks after a 20-year-old died while snorkelling on Monday, October 24 about 12pm on the Reef Experience dive boat experience.
The man’s body was found at Saxon Reef, located around 55km of Cairns.
