Innisfail man charged after Lake St shooting

An Innisfail man has been charged in relation to a shooting on Lake St in the Cairns CBD.
Police will allege the 31-year-old shot another man in the back while he was walking up a set of stairs in Cairns, leaving him with serious injuries.
The Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch charged the Belvedere man following investigations into the incident at a Lake Street address on June 8.
It will be alleged the man went to the property late in the evening and shot the 44-year-old man in the lower back as he was attempting to walk up the stairs.
The 44-year-old victim was taken to Cairns Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The man has been charged with one count of acts intended to maim.
He has been refused bail and will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on August 16.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
