Six people have been injured after a car left the road and ploughed into a popular cafe in Edge Hill earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to Ozmosis Cafe and Trattoria Bar on Collins Ave at 11.24am on Tuesday.
A woman in her 80s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 70s, and two women in their 50s and 40s were taken to hospital with neck pain and minor injuries.
An ambulance spokeswoman said the driver of the Kia Rio was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Bystander and sales agent at Professionals Edge Hill real estate, Diane Bergey, said she saw the scene unfold and rushed to offer assistance.
“A lot of people were being treated for shock,” she said.
“The staff were so amazing and everyone who wasn’t injured immediately tendered first aid.”
There have also been reports of minor structural damage to the cafe.
A QFES spokeswoman said there were two fire trucks sent to the scene, and the crew stayed until the vehicle was removed.
“There were multiple QFES and QPS crew on the scene,” she said.
“QFES left the scene at roughly 12:15pm.”
A police spokesman said the driver of the red Kia Rio was understood to be an elderly woman.
“Initial information suggests the driver, a woman in her 80s, has non-life threatening injuries and six pedestrians are being treated for injuries at the scene,” he said.
“Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit into the cause of the crash are underway.”
