A car crash in Mount Sheridan claims the life of a 23-year-old man, three others injured

A man has died and three others are in hospital after the car they were travelling in crashed into a pole in Cairns City.
Emergency services were called to the scene, on Foster Road, just after 4am on Tuesday, December 24.
According to police the silver Mazda 3 left the road and struck a pole near Hardy Road in Mount Sheridan.
The passenger, a 23-year-old male, died at the scene, while the driver and three other occupants were treated on-sight by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) before being transported to Cairns Hospital.
“One male in his 20s was sadly declared deceased on scene,” she said.
QAS confirmed two other passengers had been treated at the scene before being transported to Cairns Hospital in stable conditions.
“One male patient in his 20s sustained a suspected abdominal injury, he was also transported in a stable condition to Cairns Hospital,” QAS spokeswoman said.
The Forensic Crash Unit has since launched an investigation into the accident.
“The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following the fatal traffic crash in Mount Sheridan this morning,” Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
This comes just one week after a man was killed in a horror highway crash in the state’s north after the car he was driving smashed into a power pole on Bruce Highway near Innisfail.
