Managing a business while raising two young children is seriously challenging, as one Far North Queensland mother has discovered.

Kate Cooper, a long-time fitness fanatic, started her journey into gym ownership six months ago.

“Motherhood changed my whole life,” she said.

“They (kids) give you purpose and make you realise what’s important in life.”

While Ms Cooper loves her job and is a passionate advocate for health and fitness, she said it could be challenging balancing work, motherhood, and personal time.

Her sons — Harrison and Zach — are five and three, respectively.

“The hard part is trying to juggle it all and find a good balance in work life, mum life, and social life,” she said.

Ms Cooper said it was important to have support from friends and family as balancing the demands as a business owner and motherhood, could present its own set of challenges.

“Having friends that are mums with kids similar ages has helped me so much,” she said.

The mother of two said her business partner, who is also a mother, provides invaluable understanding and collaboration.

“We work together and talk through things,” she said.

“It’s really helpful and means a lot”.

While Ms Cooper said she was “exhausted all the time” from raising two boys, the most rewarding part was seeing her boys grow.

“Just watching the kids grow up, seeing their little personalities come out, and also seeing them become best friends is the best part,” she said.

Ms Cooper said she was excited about the upcoming changes as she rebrands her gym to offer group fitness classes catering to all stages of life.
