Motorists planning to travel north from Cairns have been warned about a traffic hazard on the Captain Cook Highway.
At 1.43pm police were notified of a broken down truck blocking both lanes of the coast road near the Turtle Cove Beach Resort.
A Queensland Traffic alert warned drivers that all lanes were blocked in both directions and delays are expected.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers had not yet arrived at the scene but were en route at 2.25pm.
“We are not on scene yet so we don’t have too much information,” he said.

The scene of the broken down truck is about 500m south of a road section still under single lane operation following road damage caused by tonnes of falling rock in December last year.
TMR has urged road users to always drive to conditions and pay attention to signed changes at the landslide worksites between Ellis Beach and Yule Point.
“Due to the extent of damage from Tropical Cyclone Jasper, there are considerable works being undertaken across all the Far North’s range roads and the Captain Cook Highway,” a TMR spokesman said.
“The Department of Transport and Main Roads is prioritising design, relevant approvals, and preparation of suitable construction methodologies for the recovery works. Once a program of works is finalised, TMR will advise stakeholders of the expected construction time frames and traffic arrangements for the works.”
The state road authority has declined to say when roadworks will be completed.
