A teenage boy was assaulted, had his bag stolen, and suffered a broken tooth while waiting at a bus stop in an outer suburb of Cairns.

A teenage boy was assaulted, had his bag stolen, and suffered a broken tooth while waiting at a bus stop in an outer suburb of Cairns.
The 16-year-old was at a Smithfield bus stop on March 22 when he was allegedly attacked by a group of teens.
Police say the group stole the boy’s backpack, which contained his personal items.
Authorities arrested a 16-year-old from Kewarra Beach on April 2, alleging he was part of the group who assaulted the teen.
He has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm in company and stealing.
The boy has been refused bail and will appear before the Cairns Children’s Court on April 3.
Investigations into others involved in the incident are ongoing.
