Woman who crashed car into couch dies

An elderly woman who crashed her car into a couch which was sitting on a main road has died in hospital.

A 74 year old woman has died in hospital after she crashed into a couch with her car in Bell Post Hill in Victoria two weeks ago.

The woman was driving along Creamery Rd in a blue Kia Rio just before 8pm on September 10 when she drove into a couch on the road.

She then veered off the road and collided with a Hyundai i40 driving in the opposite direction.

The woman was the sole occupant of the Kia and was taken to hospital.

The woman, later identified as Vickie McKenzie from North Geelong, died yesterday afternoon.

Another woman and two children who were in the Hyundai were also taken to hospital following the crash, suffering minor injuries.

The ABC reported Ms McKenzie’s son had revealed his mother had lost her leg as a result of the crash.

Detectives from the Geelong Crime Investigation Unit are continuing their investigations into how the couch came to be on the road.
