‘Suspicious package’ allegedly found inside Emmanuel School in Randwick, sparking police operation
Emergency services have swarmed a Jewish school in Sydney after reports of a suspicious package being found on the grounds.
A Jewish school in Sydney is the scene of a large police and fire rescue response just days after the horrific attack at Bondi Beach.
Emergency services were called to the Emanuel School in Randwick around 2.40pm on Tuesday following reports of a suspicious package that had been found inside the school.
NSW Police say investigations are taking place, with a heavy police presence closing down the surrounding streets.
There are also reports of a police aerial unit circling in the skies above Bondi and Woollahra.
NSW Police have said that “the school is closed and there are no students or teaching staff at the school”.
In a statement they have also said that “there is no threat to the public”.
Fire and Rescue NSW have examined the suspicious package and found an “inert substance” inside.
More to come.
