‘Out of control’: Serial tyre slasher caught on CCTV in street rampage

A late-night bandit is still at large after allegedly racking up $40,000 worth in damage in just hours on suburban street.

An alleged serial tyre slasher has racked up $40,000 worth in damage after being caught on CCTV rampaging through a southwest Sydney street.

Locals claim the unknown bandit punctured about 200 tyres on 100 cars from about 2.30am on Saturday in the suburb of Kingsgrove.

CCTV showed the person, armed with a box cutter, slashing dozens of tyres in just seconds before moving on.

Locals claim vehicles parked on at least five different streets had been targeted and that there were dozens of victims.

It comes as residents continue to vent frustration at what they claim has been a repeated occurrence on the quiet street.

“These tyre slashers are out of control. Obviously, they know the area well … They need to be caught,” one local yold 9News.

“Pretty disgusting and putrid act by whoever did it in the community,” another said.

Others discussed online gathering information about the incidences, with CCTV footage of the alleged lashings being posted.

A replacement tyre currently costs on average about $200 each, meaning residents were left with a bill of about $40,000.

In a statement, NSW Police said they were investigating reports parked vehicles were damaged in the Kingsgrove area between 2.30am and 6am.

With inquiries ongoing, police urged anyone with dashcam footage from Caroline, Mashman, Northcott, Vivienne Streets to come forward.
