The police are hoping to speak to the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf after a 12-year-old girl was hit by a car while crossing the road.

NSW Police are appealing for public help as they investigate an alleged hit-and-run crash on The Central Coast.

The police say a 12-year-old girl was struck by car while she was crossing the road at Railway Crescent in Lisarow about 2.55pm on Friday.

The girl suffered serious injuries to her arm and leg injuries and paramedics rushed her to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

The vehicle allegedly left the scene after hitting the girl, the police say.

“Police established a crime scene and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation into the incident,” the police said on Saturday.

“As investigations continue, police would like to speak to the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf believed to be in the area at the time of the incident.
