Man charged, two dead following fatal car crash in Brooloo, Queensland

A man has been charged with two counts of manslaughter and is set to face a bedside hearing after his car crashed on a Queensland road, killing two people.

A man has been charged with two counts of manslaughter following a fatal crash in a rural area of Queensland.

Police will allege a 61-year-old Valdora man was driving a Suzuki Kizashi that crashed into a tree at Callemonda Rd and Mary Valley Rd in Brooloo - a small town in the Gympie region - shortly before 2pm on Monday.

An 83-year-old Kandanga man travelling in the front passenger seat and a 85-year old Gympie woman in the back seat of the vehicle both died at the scene.

The driver was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

After further investigation by detectives, the 61-year-old man was arrested.

He remains in hospital under guard, and is expected to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court by way of bedside hearing on Tuesday.
