Firefighters found the unresponsive child after they were called to the Alice Springs home following reports someone was trapped inside.

A young child has died in house fire in Alice Spring, after firefighters were called to a burning building following reports someone was trapped inside the property.

Emergency services were called to a home on Thorold Court in Larapinta just after 10.30am on Thursday.

Northern Territory authorities say firefighters arrived at the home which was “engulfed in flames,” before locating the unresponsive child.

While attempts were made to administer CPR, the child was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by a St John Ambulance, however they did not respond.

Regional crime detectives, fire investigators and the Coroner’s Constable will investigate the circumstances around the fire.

A report will also be prepared for the coroner.
