A child fights for life following a fatal car crash in Regional Victoria

A teenage boy and a man are dead following a fatal car crash, while a woman, 33, and a girl, 12, remain in a critical condition in hospital.

Two people are dead and a woman, 33, and a girl, 12, are fighting for life following a single vehicle car crash in Victoria’s Gippsland region.

Emergency services were called to reports of a single car crash in Briagolong, a small town in the shire of Wellington, at about 3.45pm on Sunday afternoon.

They arrived to the scene on Briagolong Road to find a 42-year-old Briagolong man and a 14-year-old Maffra boy deceased.

A 33-year-old Briagolong woman and a 12-year-old Briagolong girl were treated by paramedics for life-threatening injuries, and transported by helicopter to hospital.

They remain in hospital in a critical condition.

The deceased 14-year-old has been identified as a teenager who attended Maffra Secondary College.

Police have not yet formally released the names of those involved in the collision.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

The two deaths bring this year’s road toll in Victoria to 100.
