As astrology has taken hold of the Gen Z zeitgeist, so too has a twin specialty known as travel astrology.

Travel astrology is, as the name suggests, the practice of planning your holiday adventures according to your star sign.

And while the trend may seem quirky, it’s undoubtedly popular.

Research from the travel site Skyscanner has revealed a whopping 52 per cent of Aussies believe in astrology, a spokesperson for the site confirmed to news.com.au. More than one quarter (27 per cent) were so dedicated to the stars, they were willing to plan their travels around them.

The concept “travel astrology” has almost 350,000 views on TikTok, where more than 70 per cent of users are younger than 34. “Astrocartography”, a branch of astrology that matches one’s astrological birth chart to a world map to see the geographic regions with which it aligns, has 84.4 million views.

“Travel astrology is a fascinating aspect that delves into celestial bodies’ influence on your travel experiences and preferences,” astrologist Dadhichi Toth, who has partnered with Skyscanner, told news.com.au.

“It looks at examining how cosmic placements effects your wanderlust, travel style, and destinations to which you might feel more connected.

“This helps you understand why you might feel drawn to certain places or experience transformative travel experiences in particular locations, based on your astrological makeup.”

Mr Toth said Aussies were “increasingly turning to astrology to gain insights into their personalities, life paths, and, yes, even their travel plans.”

“In a country as diverse as Australia, where the landscapes range from stunning coastlines to arid deserts, and the rich and varied cultural tapestry, understanding how your astrological sign influences your travel choices can be enlightening and practical,” he said.

According to Mr Toth, the first step in planning a holiday according to your star sign is determining your sun sign, also known as your star sign — the well-known astrological symbol based on your birthdate.

“Each sun sign has distinct characteristics that can provide valuable insights into travel preferences”, he explained.

But for those who don’t want to do the work, Mr Toth shared his recommendations for a celestially perfect holiday, according to your star sign.

Here is what he recommends.

Aries (March 21 – April 19): Adventurous and spontaneous, Aries individuals thrive on action-packed vacations like hiking in New Zealand or exploring the vibrant streets of Tokyo.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Taurus travellers appreciate luxury and relaxation. Consider destinations like Bali for serene beaches or the Italian countryside for gourmet food and wine.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Social and curious, Geminis enjoy city hopping and meeting new people. Destinations like Madrid or New York City offer cultural diversity and excitement.
